Another Cruising Season Comes to an End

Caribbean Cruising

It's hard to believe that another fabulous cruising season has come to an end. After 8 months of sailing the Caribbean, we arrived safely back in Trinidad on June 9th, after a lovely 11 hour sail from Grenada under a full moon. The only downside was learning of an attempted boarding by pirates of a fellow cruising friends boat while making the same passage just 2 days earlier. Naturally, this prompted a renewed debate of "safety & guns aboard" among the cruising community.

We've hauled "Leap" once again, and she'll ride out the hurricane season safely tucked away on the hard in Trinidad, while we return to the States for the next four months. We'll return to the Caribbean in early November for more fun in the sun!

Leaving the boat is always a bittersweet time. We love our new sailing lifestyle, and have made many close friends here in the islands. But we're also looking forward to seeing our families again. Admittedly, I miss having a car, since I've always loved taking long drives... I just hope I can remember which side of the road to drive on these days!

We hope everyone has a fantastic summer, and we hope to see many of you again soon.

Cheers!
